Constitution Week 2009

   

Constitution Day, September 17, is the day the U.S. Constitution was originally signed by the Constitutional Convention delegates at the Philadelphia State House in Philadelphia, back in 1787.

                        

Wednesday September 16
NY Times Talk Lunch
12 – 1 PM

Topic: “Major Non-Constitutional Factors Affecting on Public Policy: Rhetoric and Public Opinion”
Host: Richard Vatz, Mass Communication and Communication Studies

Just bring your brain! Come discuss recent New York Times articles surrounding this topic with students, faculty and staff! Don’t miss the FREE pizza and giveaways!

Wednesday September 16
Health Care Reform Debate
featuring Delegate Dan Morhaim (D. District 11) and Senator Andy Harris (R. District 7).
1-2:30 PM
University Union, Chesapeake I and II

Come hear from two Maryland state representatives with opposing views on the national health care debate. Delegate Morhaim and Senator Harris are both practicing medical doctors with unique insights into the health care system and the current debate. Students will have an opportunity to ask Delegate Morhaim and Senator Harris questions and engage first-hand in public discussion of the impact of health care reform on consumers and future health care professionals. Light refreshments will be provided.

Constitution Trivia!

Come test your knowledge of the U.S. Constitution and win fun prizes!

Saturday September 19
FREE Bus Trip to Washington, D.C.!
Come and explore the capital with fellow students and staff. Explore the National Archives, the Smithsonian Institute Museums, the National Geographic Society Museum at Explorers Hall and more at no charge!

Buses will load at 8:30 AM and return to campus by 6 PM. Pick up and drop off is at Lot 11 by the MTA bus stop. Space is limited to the first 55 students who RSVP. Students who would like to come must RSVP to James David at jdavid13@students.towson.edu by Thursday, September 17.
