Teaching with The New York Times

HOW IT WORKS:

Professors receive free home delivery of the New York Times Monday through Friday during the semester. The New York Times is available for students to pick up Monday through Friday at nine locations across campus.  Professors can choose to incorporate the newspaper into courses however they see fit.

BENEFITS:

Promoting Civic Engagement is a university priority that is captured in the Towson University 2010 plan. Teaching with the New York Times promotes civically engaged students at Towson as it:

  • Encourages critical thinking

  • Promotes global awareness

  • Cultivates social responsibility

  • Brings relevancy into the classroom

  • Fosters serendipitous learning

The Times allows for discussion and reflection on topics that have direct impact on the lives of students today- from social issues and new technology to the global economy and career opportunities.

ADDITIONAL Resources/Benefits:
