Constitution Week

Constitution Day is the day the U.S. Constitution was originally signed by the Constitutional Convention delegates at the Philadelphia State House in Philadelphia, on September 17, 1787. While recognizing Constitution Day is actually required by the federal government, the department of Civic Engagement chooses to engage in a week of Constitution-related activities each September to promote awareness of the document that lays the foundation for U.S. democracy.

Topic: U.S. Constitutional Rights – Facilitator: Officer Kia Williams. Come discuss recent New York Times articles about this topic with students, faculty and staff. Just bring your brain! Don’t miss out on FREE PIZZA and giveaways!

Come join us in celebration of Constitution Day! Pick up a free pocket-sized constitution, register to vote and learn more about what is happening during Constitution Week.

Celebrate the 2nd birthday of the Federal Depository Library Program at Towson with cake and fun giveaways!

Thursday, September 19 - 6 p.m.– 8 p.m.

MOUNTAINTOP COAL REMOVAL: SOCIAL, ECONOMIC AND ECOLOGICAL DEGRADATION

University Union Loch Raven Room

Come hear activists and students talk about the effects of Mountaintop Coal Removal in West Virginia. There will be a short panel discussion followed by slideshow of photography and student video productions from a trip to Coal River Valley.

PHILADELPHIA BUS TRIP WITH CAMPUS ACTIVITIES BOARD

Join CAB during Constitution Week for a bus trip to Philly! We will meet at the front of the Union at 8:45. The bus will leave at 9 a.m. from the union loading dock and travel into the historic area of Philly (925 Market Street). There will be an optional scavenger hunt with giveaways as well as a list of historical sites, shopping, eating and general sightseeing to do in the area.

Tickets for students and non-students are $4. Buy your tickets at the box office at the University Union across from the University store!

Tuesday September 24 - All Day

NATIONAL VOTER REGISTRATION DAY


Register to vote and catch a ride to class! Be on the lookout around campus for one of our golf carts and catch a ride to class. Answer trivia questions to win prizes! Everyone who registers to vote via TowsonU.turbovote.org by September 24 will have a chance to win a $50 dollar gift card to the Towson University Bookstore.
