Political Engagement

Political engagement, exercising one's right to vote and advocating for legislation and policy changes one believes in are important parts of engaged citizenship.

The Office of Civic Engagement and Leadership promotes active citizenship with annual events and informational campaigns. Towson University celebrates Constitution Day every September with a week of activities.

Voter registration and education programs occur year round, with extra emphasis during the election season.

In addition, we encourage student awareness of current issues through the PawPrints Collegiate Readership Program with campus newspaper accross campus and monthly discussions at the New York Times Talks.

Freedom Square is located at the heart of Towson University's campus and is a representation of our right to free speach. Students have thoughtful conversations and are active participants with the engaging dialogue that occurs at Freedom Square.
