Numerous journals and conferences focus on service-learning, community engagement and the scholarship of engagement. Publishing and presenting are great opportunities to disseminate information about faculty work done in these areas.
Journal for Civic Commitment
The Journal for Civic Commitment is dedicated to growing and strengthening the discussion around service-learning. Through service-learning experiences students come to appreciate the importance of participating as responsible citizens in community life. Service-learning is the conduit through which colleges help to create an informed, participatory citizenry.

The focus of the Journal of College and Character is character development in college, including how colleges and universities influence, both intentionally and unintentionally, the moral and civic learning and behaviors of college students.

Michigan Journal of Community Service Learning
Since 1994, the Michigan Journal of Community Service Learning (MJCSL) has been the premiere national, peer-reviewed journal publishing articles written by faculty and service-learning educators on research, theory, pedagogy and other issues related to academic (curriculum-based) service-learning in higher education.
National Society for Experiential Education Journal
The National Society for Experiential Education Journal contains interests of the following areas: internships, co-op, arts, international and cross-cultural educations, service-learning, social justice and active learning in the classroom.
Planning and Changing: An Educational Leadership and Policy Journal Planning and Changing: An Educational Leadership and Policy Journal provides a forum for the presentation of peer-reviewed articles including formal research studies using quantitative and/or qualitative methodologies, as well as reflective, theoretical pieces focused on significant aspects of education and schooling relevant to the administrator, community and the larger public good.
Partnerships: A Journal of Service-Learning and Civic Engagement Partnerships: A Journal of Service-Learning and Civic Engagement recognizes that successful engaged learning depends on effective partnerships between students, faculty, community agencies, administrators, disciplines and more. The articles in this peer-reviewed journal focus on how theories and practices can inform and improve such partnerships, connections and collaborations. Studies co-authored by faculty, students and/or community partners; examining practices across discplines or campuses; and exploring international networks are all encouraged.
Purdue Journal of Service-Learning (PJSL), a multi-disciplinary Open Access journal available in print and online, is dedicated to undergraduate students who conduct projects with strong service-learning and academic civic engagement aspects. By involving students in an intensive writing activity and showcasing the opportunities available at Purdue, the journal will enhance the use and effectiveness of the pedagogy of service-learning as a high-impact learning methodology.
The goal of the Engagement Scholarship Consortium is to work collaboratively to build strong university-community partnerships anchored in the rigor of scholarship. The organization is designed to help build community capacity.
Continuums of Service Conference
The Continuums of Service Conference invites leaders from higher education, K-12 education, community-based organizations, government agencies, philanthropic organizations, businesses and grassroots efforts to convene and discuss strategies to implement our shared leadership and responsibility to rebuild and strengthen communities across the region.
This conference focuses on service-learning as a way of teaching and learning that builds academic skills and citizenship while addressing community needs in a genuine way. It convenes teachers and other service-learning practitioners, administrators, researchers, policy-makers, youth leaders, parents, program coordinators, national service members, community-based organization staff, and corporate and foundation officers.
