International Student Exchange

Payment Information

All international students who wish to study in the U.S. must demonstrate the ability to afford all education and living expenses. Students participating in the TU International Student Exchange Program must submit proof of financial ability for the total amount shown below.

The following are estimated costs (in US dollars) for students participating in the TU International Student Exchange program during the 2012-13 academic year:

  • Students participating in the exchange program are not required to pay tuition or regular university fees at Towson University.

  • Housing costs are not covered by the TU Partner Exchange agreement. For information on housing options and costs click here. Students who choose to live on-campus must submit a deposit of $350 prior to arrival. The balance of the housing charge will be billed to the student's TU account and must be paid by the payment deadline.*

    Please note that the Housing Contract does not include Minimester (winter break between the fall and spring terms) or summer. International students studying at Towson for the full academic year may stay in their room in the Residence Tower over the winter break for an additional fee.

  • Meal costs are not included in the TU Partner Exchange agreement. For information on meal plans click here. Students who choose to live on-campus are required to purchase a meal plan. Students will be automatically enrolled in the 10 meals per week plan but may upgrade upon arrival. Meal plan charges will be billed to the student's TU account and must be paid by the payment deadline.* Meal plans are valid during the regular semester only.
  • All exchange students will be automatically enrolled in the TU health insurance policy, unless they prove they have comparable health insurance and complete the Health Insurance Waiver process. The TU health insurance fee is automatically billed to the TU student’s account each semester they attend TU and must be paid by the payment deadline.   • Payment for the fall semester is due in early September and payment for the spring semester is due in early February.

    The Towson University Bursar’s Office is responsible for all charges and payments to student accounts. See the Bursar’s Office website for pricing and payment information.

  • *Students using financial aid (scholarships/loans) from their home country to pay all or part of their TU bill may be eligible for payment deferral until funds become available. Please contact the TU Study Abroad Office for details.
