TU in France - Le Centre d'Avignon (courses taught in French)
This program is designed for students with advanced French language skills who seek full integration into French daily life.
Avignon:
Le Centre D'Avignon is located in the heart of the medieval town of Avignon in the Provence region of France. Avignon is a walled city made up of a medieval labyrinth of squares and cobblestone streets. Home to approximately 100,000, residents, this beautiful city is renowned for its museums, art galleries, and festivals. Students in Avignon will find it easier to meet local residents and other university students than those studying in a large city and will be exposed to the traditional culture of this region of France.
Subjects Available: Art, architecture, art history, economics, film, French, history, literature, music, philosophy, political science, sociology, theatre. Five courses per semester (15 US credits) / two courses per summer (6 US credits).
Qualified advanced level students may take one or two courses at the Universite d'Avignon et des Pays du Vaucluse. Internships and volunteer opportunities in the local community are also available. All courses are taught in French.
IAU has a formal agreement with l'Université d'Avignon under which a limited number of qualified students, either in the Fall and/or in the Spring semester may enroll in courses for credit under the supervision and with the approval of the Institute's Academic Director and the students home campus. Housing: Students live with a local host family who provide daily breakfast and six evening meals per week.

Spring 2010: $14,950
Cost includes academic credit, housing, daily breakfast and six evening meals per week, textbooks, program excursions, scheduled cultural activities, bus pass, health insurance, and orientation. Additional costs include all other meals, passport and visa fees, airfare, personal expenses, and the TU Study Abroad Fee ($150 summer, $300 Fall/Spring). Students will also be required to purchase French state-mandated insurance upon arrival.
*The Towson University Study Abroad Office reserves the right to make any necessary changes including adjustments in cost in the event that unforeseen circumstances arise.
Application Process: Minimum cumulative GPA requirement of 2.5 plus minimum cumulative GPA requirement of 3.0 in French courses. Sophomore/Junior/Senior status. Students must have completed 4+ semesters of college level French (or its equivalent) to participate.
Submit the TU in France Application Form (PDF) to the TU Study Abroad Office by the deadline. Non-TU students should also complete a Non-degree enrollment form (PDF). $50 application fee (TU students) / $75 application fee (Non-TU students).
