Study Abroad Short-term Program Pre-departure Information for Students
BILLING, PAYMENT AND FINANCIAL AID
The program deposit is due upon application and is non-refundable if admitted to the program. In the case of program cancellation the deposit will be returned to you.
The Towson University Bursar’s Office will bill you for the total program cost minus the deposit. Students will be billed by the Bursar's Office in April for summer programs and December for Minimester programs.
You will also be charged a study abroad fee according to the duration of study abroad:
- SUMMER - $150
- MINIMESTER - $150
- SPRING BREAK - $150
After acceptance, the full balance of the program fee is due to Towson University. Should the student wish to withdraw from the program for any reason after acceptance, only recoverable expenses may be refunded. Towson University withdrawal/drop/add deadlines do not apply. The student must submit his/her intention to withdraw in writing.
Students who already receive Federal Aid may qualify for additional aid up to their maximum loan amount for TU short-term programs offered during the summer. To qualify, students must complete a minimum of 6-credits during the summer term. Federal Aid is not available for Minimester.
Scholarships may also be used to pay for study abroad.
When you have selected your study abroad program ask your Study Abroad Adviser to complete a Study Abroad Budget outlining estimated and known costs. Submit the budget to the TU Financial Aid Office and your award will be made accordingly.
Aid awards and/or scholarships will automatically be deducted from your TU bill, with the remainder issued to the student in the form of a rebate check.
