Corporate Communication in the UK

Study in London with Towson University in January 2010. This course provides an analysis of corporate communication strategies in the UK used in developing internal and external communication plans. The UK's role as a significant global economic environment will be examined. Guest lectures will be presented by experts in public relations, marketing, advertising, media, and politics. Excursions to related enterprises and facilities are a major focus of this course. This course is open to all majors but must be taken for credit. Attendance at all lectures and site visits is mandatory.

The program is based in London, one of the liveliest and most cosmopolitan cities in the world and home to more than 7.7 million residents. With music and sports venues, art galleries, theaters, museums, and shops, this city has something for everyone. Highlights include a half-day sightseeing tour of London by private coach and a tour of the BBC Studios. Housing is included in the program price (based on double occupancy).

Course: MCOM 479 (3 credits) or COMM 470: Corporate Communication in the UK (3 credits). Recommended for MCOM or COMM majors only. Other majors will be required to meet with the program director to assess their eligibility for the program. Cost:*$4,400 includes academic credit, roundtrip airfare, health insurance, housing, excursions, welcome dinner, and a London bus/metro travel pass. Additional estimated costs include $150 Study Abroad Fee, meals and personal expenses.

*The Towson University Study Abroad Office reserves the right to make any necessary changes including adjustments in cost in the event that unforeseen circumstances arise.

Application Deadline: OCTOBER 15, 2009. Admission is on a rolling basis. Early application is advised as space is limited.

Application Process: Students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5, a high school diploma or equivalent experience, and be at least 18 years old. Prerequisites: MCOM 101 (Introduction to Mass Communication) or COMM 101 (Introduction to Human Communication) or equivalent.

Fill out the application (PDF) and submit it to the TU Study Abroad Office. $250 deposit required at time of application. Non-TU students must also submit a completed Non-Degree Enrollment Application (PDF) .
