York University was founded in March 1959, and is now Canada’s 3rd largest university and one of the leading interdisciplinary teaching and research universities in the country.York is host to a dynamic academic community of 55,000 students and 7,000 faculty and staff. With more than 290 student clubs and organizations, the intellectual, cultural and social life at York is one of the richest in Canada.

Location: York offers a modern, academic experience in Toronto – Canada’s cultural, entertainment, and financial capital. It is home to the Toronto Maple Leafs – Toronto’s Hockey team; Yonge Street - the longest street in the world; and the CN Tower - the tallest freestanding structure in the world. Toronto is consistently rated as one of the world's most liveable cities and it's excellent public transportation system makes getting around easy and convenient. 

Academic Information: 12 - 15 U.S. credits (12 - 15 York credits) per semester. (F) courses run in the fall semester / (W) courses run in the spring semester / (Y) courses are year-long. Students may select from courses taught on the Keele campus. Business and law courses are not available to exchange students. York University is accredited by the Ontario Ministry of Education.

TU students may receive Honors College credit for their study abroad experience.

Language of Instruction: English (except for foreign language courses).

Dates:
Fall: September - December
Spring: January - April

Housing Options: Students 20 years of age and under can apply for undergraduate housing (residence halls/dormitories) on-campus and are required to purchase a meal plan. Students 21 years of age and over can apply to apartment housing on-campus.

Cost: TU tuition and fees. Additional costs include airfare, meals, housing, visa and passport fees, $440 health insurance fee (includes TU and Canadian insurance fees), personal expenses, and a $300 study abroad fee.TU Tuition remission can be applied.

Eligibility: Student must be a full-time undergraduate degree-seeking student at TU with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.6. Open to majors in TU College of Fine Arts and Communication only. Sophomore/Junior/Senior status.

Application Process: Fill out the application and submit it to the TU Study Abroad Office. $100 exchange application fee.
