Carl von Ossietzky Universität (the University of Oldenburg) is home to approximately 11,000 students including 900 international students from more than 90 countries worldwide. Students choosing the University of Oldenburg will find it easy to meet local German students with countless opportunities to get involved in campus life.
The university is located in the town of Oldenburg in northwest Germany approximately 30 miles from Bremen. The city features everything you might need as a student with a vibrant social and cultural life.
Oldenburg is known as a city of cycling with approximately 170 miles of bicycle paths so everything is within close reach. If you don’t like cycling you can take the bus which is free of charge for students! Students can also travel by train for free throughout Germany so exploring the country is easy and cheap. The Netherlands lies just 60 miles to the north and Oldenburg is within reach of three international airports.
Academic Information: TU students may receive Honors College credit for their study abroad experience.
Language of Instruction: German (except for English literature courses). Some departments also offer courses taught in English.

Housing Options: Dormitory, apartment with other students, rent a room in a private residence.
Cost: TU tuition and fees. Additional costs
include airfare, housing, meals, $180 health insurance fee, personal
expenses, and a $300 study abroad fee. Students will also be required
to purchase German state-mandated insurance upon arrival. TU Tuition remission can be applied.
Eligibility: Student must be a full-time undergraduate degree-seeking student at TU with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. Junior/Senior status. Minimum two years of college level German.
Application Process: Fill out the application and submit it to the TU Study Abroad Office. $100 exchange application fee.
