Panama: Business and Culture at the Crossroads of the Americas

Study business and Panamanian culture in this tropical country in the heart of the Americas. Panama City is one of the most cosmopolitan and modern cities in Latin America offering a safe and friendly environment for your study abroad experience. Program highlights include a tour of the Panama Canal and Amador Causeway, a day-trip to either Coronado Beach or Taboga Island, a day trip to San Blas Islands, a tour of an Embera Indian Village, and visits to additional local areas.
Trade with Latin America has become routine in the global marketplace and business students with knowledge of Latin American culture are now sought after by major U.S. corporations. Students will take Principles of e-Business or International Businessr and a course in Panamanian culture. The program includes visits to local and multi-national companies such as Procter & Gamble, Adidas, HP and Dell.
Course: MNGT 375 International Business (3 credits) or EBTM 311 Principles of e-Business (3 credits) and LAST 484/MNGT 494 Panamanian Culture (3 credits). Students will earn a total of 6 credits.
TU students may receive Honors credit for their study abroad experience.
Costs: *3,600 includes academic credit, housing, daily breakfast, health insurance, welcome and farewell dinners, local cell phone, and excursions. Additional costs include $150 study abroad fee, international airfare (approx. $700), required texbook (approx. $100), any meals not included, and personal expenses. Note: International airfare is not included in the program cost.

Eligibility: Students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5, a high school diploma or equivalent experience, and be at least 18 years old. General prerequisites: Business majors only. Junior/senior standing. MNGT 375 prerequisites: Junior major standing, BUSX 301. EBTM 311 prerequisites: EBTM/MNGT 337 or equivalent, students may not have already taken EBUS/ECOM/MNGT 311.
Application Process: Fill out the application and submit it to the TU Study Abroad Office. $250 deposit is required at time of application. Non-TU students must also submit a completed Non-Degree Enrollment Application.
