Study Abroad Peer Advisors

Our Study Abroad Peer Advisors are current TU students who have already studied abroad and now work in the TU Study Abroad Office. They are eager to share stories about their time abroad and can provide first-hand advice and guidance before, during, and after your study abroad experience.

Send them an email at to ask a specific question or to make an appointment to meet with one of them. You don’t have to be interested in the country where the Peer Advisor studied in order to talk with them.

Bradford Drewniak
Faculty-Led Program: Argentina
Summer, 2014 and Italy, Summer 2015

"I am a senior currently majoring in Psychology. Last summer I had the experience of a lifetime when I visited Buenos Aires with Dr. David Earnest. Prior to studying abroad, my experience outside of the US was quite limited. Suddenly I decided that it was time to explore and get outside of my comfort zone. I couldn't be more thankful for my decision. Exploring a culture completely different from your own is life-changing! I'll never forget the friends that I made and the experiences that had. In fact, I loved it so much that I had to go twice!"

Semester at Sea
16 countries
Fall 2014

“I am a senior majoring in Environmental Studies with a minor in Geography. Living on a ship for 108 days, traveling the world was the most eye opening experience of my life. Using different countries and the ocean to reinforce what I learned in my classes made me gain valuable knowledge. On sea, I’ll never forget whale watching at lunch, crossing the Atlantic Ocean for 14 days, and passing over the equator. On land, I’ll never forget the friendships, culture shock, and the ability to say “hi” in 14 languages. Even if your study abroad experience is only for a week, it’s life changing!"

Courtney Souders
International Studies Abroad: South Africa
Spring 2015

“I am currently a junior majoring in Elementary and Special Education. Living in South Africa for a semester was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. There is nothing like going to another country to learn everything about the local culture, and most importantly, yourself. Because of my experience, I have become much more open-minded, self-aware, and willing to do things out of my comfort zone. Never in my life did I think I would walk with lions, shark cage dive, and do the highest bungee jump in the world. I also met some incredible lifelong friends from both the U.S. and South Africa. I believe everyone should study abroad if they have the opportunity, because it is an experience that will positively change your life and outlook on the world."

Alexandra Waller
AIFS Hyderabad, India
Spring 2015

"I am currently a junior with a major in Anthropology and a minor in Women and Gender Studies. Living and studying in India for five months was truly eye-opening and one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. I had the chance to learn about a culture completely different from anything I was accustomed to. It is my belief that study abroad is an opportunity that everyone should take if possible, because it provides you with a new outlook on the world around you. Because of my study abroad experience, I now have friends and family halfway across the world!"
