Study Abroad

Eligibility for Study Abroad

  • Students must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA at the time of application.
  • Students on academic or disciplinary probation at the time of application are not eligible to study abroad.
  • Students who have a significant history of disciplinary problems may not eligible to participate in study abroad.
  • Students must have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours prior to departure (except for short-term faculty-led programs) unless otherwise stated.
  • Transfer students must complete one full semester at TU prior to studying abroad.
  • Students must meet specific requirements and deadlines to be eligible to study abroad.
  • Students who wish to study abroad on a Towson University program who do not meet the stated criteria for that program must submit a petition to the Study Abroad Office asking permission to do so. The petition will be reviewed by the Petitions Subcommittee of the Faculty Committee on Study Abroad (FCOSA) for final approval. Please contact the TU Study Abroad Office to obtain a petition form.
