I'm Back, Now What? Leveraging Your International Experience: Baltimore Regional Re-entry Conference

All conference attendees will be entered to win a $100 travel voucher generously donated by STA Travel.

Location: Johns Hopkins University

This conference is designed for students who have had an international experience. Participants will receive information relevant to future opportunities that are globally oriented.

Make personal and professional meaning of your time abroad. Learn how to market your knowledge and skills on your resume, cover letters, and in job interviews. Share your international experiences with other students. Speak with experts about other international opportunities including volunteering, working, and graduate study abroad.

Open to all students in the Baltimore metro area with an interest in leveraging an international experience for personal and professional benefit.

Program Schedule:

The conference will begin at 9:30 a.m. with check-in and registration and end at 3:00 p.m.

10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Welcome and cross-cultural exercise
11:00 - 12:30 p.m. Playback Theater: Unpacking Cross Cultural Study Abroad*
12:30 - 12:45 p.m. International Expert Panelist Introductions
12:45 - 1:45 p.m. Lunch and Networking**
1:45 - 2:15 p.m. Marketing Your Study Abroad Experience
2:15 - 3:00 p.m. Resume Review


*Playback Theater

Playback Theater is a time for conference participants to offer personal stories and then witness them come to life in improvised music, movement, and dialogue. Inside Out Playback Theater offers a venue for students who have studied internationally to share their stories of discovery and culture-shock and to ease re-entry stress. Connections between participants are forged as stories are played back. This session will be facilitated by Hedei Winters Vogel.

Directions and Parking:

The Re-entry Conference will take place at Johns Hopkins University's Homewood Campus in the Glass Pavilion at Levering Hall at 3400 N. Charles Street, Baltimore.

Parking: South Garage: accessed from Wyman Park Drive, between San Martin Drive and Art Museum Drive. The parking lot is underneath Mason Hall. $6 flat rate.

Walking directions from South Garage to Levering Hall: You are beneath Mason Hall. Take the elevator to the first floor and exit through the main doors, or walk up the stairs on either side of the building and turn to the front of the building. Walk up the brick path to your left, past Clark Hall, past Hodson Hall, and follow the path as it turns to the right. You will see Levering Hall. Go around to the front of Levering Hall and enter the building. Turn right to the Glass Pavilion. The walk from the Garage to Levering Hall is about 5 minutes

It is usually possible on weekends to find spaces in area 13 near Clark Hall (number 12 on the map), which can be accessed directly from Wyman Park Drive.


Registration:

The conference is open to all interested students in the Baltimore area. Registration fee includes program, information materials, and lunch. To register, submit an Online Registration Form and a $10.00 registration fee by Friday, January 30, 2015 your Study Abroad Office.

Late and on-site registrations (9:30 - 10:00 a.m.) will be $12.00 payable by cash, check, or credit card only.
