Sports and the Sport Industry in the UK: Human Performance and the Business of Sport in Global Perspective

Study in the UK with Towson University in January 2013. This program offers students the opportunity to gain a thorough understanding of the cultural and economic aspects of sport and exercise in global perspective through first hand experience.
This course is for students interested in exercise science, sport management, economics, international business, popular culture, sport tourism, and global sport sales and sponsorship Attendance at all lectures and site visits is mandatory. Students will be graded on the quality of their participation in the site visits and assignments.
Course: Undergraduate students will earn a total of 6 credits and will enroll in ECON 370: Sports Economics (3 credits) plus choose one of the following courses:
KNES 285: Sport: Cross Cultural Perspective (3 credits)
KNES 470: Selected Topics in Physical Education (3 credits)
KNES 494: Travel Study (3 credits)
Graduate students will enroll in KNES 594 (3 credits) and must complete an extended research paper on a topic of the student's choosing with advice from the instructor. Graduate students may be able to arrange an independent study with the permission of the instructor and the department.
TU students may receive Honors credit for their study abroad experience.
Costs: *$4,395 includes academic credit,
housing, health insurance, excursions, welcome and farewell dinners, and a London bus/metro travel pass. Additional costs include $150 study abroad fee, international airfare (approx. $900), all other meals, and personal expenses.
Note: International airfare is not included in the program cost. Students will be responsible for making their own travel arrangements to the program location to arrive by the designated date and time. The Study Abroad Office will identify an optional flight which participants may purchase independently if desired.
*The Towson University Study Abroad Office reserves the right to make any necessary changes including adjustments in cost in the event that unforeseen circumstances arise.
Eligibility: Students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5, a high school diploma or equivalent experience, and be at least 18 years old. Prerequisites: None.
Application Process: Fill out the application and submit it to the TU Study Abroad Office. $250 deposit is required at time of application. Non-TU undergraduate students must also submit a completed Non-Degree Enrollment Application. Non-TU graduate students must also submit an Application for Graduate School.
