Lighting Design
Light designer Jay Herzog's early research
led him to a lighting effect that he may use to suggest water
images in the play. He also made sketches to share his
ideas with the rest of the production team. He notes "These
drawings are really about texture and color more than they are
about demonstrating an exact place or cue in the show."
He constructed a series of sketches, to open conversations for
the team. Night and day happen in contrasting palettes
of color and texture, while special lighting is used for particular moments such as the
burning of Jamie's clothing. The photo below shows four actresses
