Faculty and students in Towson University's theatre department are actively involved with various professional organizations, including the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) Chesapeake Section, and the Literary Managers & Dramaturgs of the Americas, among others.

Towson University's Department of Theatre Arts is hosting the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival's region II conference in January 2011.
