Sal is a senior executive with over 30 years of achievement and success in investment and financial management. Areas of expertise include investment management and operations, investment strategy, asset allocation, asset liability management, risk and capital management, mergers and acquisitions, and major areas of insurance.
Sal currently provides investment advisory consulting and board of director services to insurance and asset management clients including areas such as, economic and capital market outlook, investment strategy, structure, processes, and international expansion.
Sal serves on the Board of Directors of Builders Insurance (a Mutual Captive Company) based in Atlanta, GA. He also serves as non-executive Vice Chair of the Board of Conning, a leading provider of asset management, risk and capital management services.
Sal was COO of Conning from 2001 to 2003 and CEO from 2003 until 2012. Prior to Conning, Sal held executive positions at Swiss Re and USF&G.
Sal received his Master of Business Administration from the University of Baltimore with honors from Beta Gamma Sigma. He received his Bachelor of Arts and completed a dual major in Business Administration and Economics at Towson University where he graduated magna cum laude. Sal has earned professional designations as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Cash Manager (CCM), and Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI).
Sal is active in community service and on the Board of the Towson University Foundation and he also serves on the Advisory Board of Towson's College of Business and Economics. He formerly served on the Board of the North Central Connecticut American Heart Association, and was Chair of the American Heart Association's 2011 and 2012 Hartford Heart Walks. He is a past board member of the Hartford, CT based non-profit, Family Life Education.
