Dear Colleague:

The Towson University Department of Geography and Environmental Planning, along with Esri and other co-sponsors, announce our 25th Annual Geographic Information Sciences Conference. TUgis 2012 will be held on Monday, March 19 and Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the University Union on the Towson University campus.

TUgis 2012 will emphasize information sharing, or technology transfer, by anyone currently using GIS and anyone considering using GIS. The theme for TUgis 2012 is “Celebrating 25 Years of Service to the Mid-Atlantic Geospatial Community.” The plenary presenters for TUgis 2012 are:

TUgis 2012 provides GIS and other professionals with the opportunity to share their experiences and receive recognition for their work. We encourage presentation proposals for concurrent sessions that include individual presentations, panel presentations, mini-workshops, and a poster session. We are soliciting proposals in the form of abstracts. The deadline for proposals is Friday, January 27, 2012. Instructions for submitting a proposal for TUgis 2012 can be found at the Call for Presentations > Proposal Submission Instructions link on the navigation bar.

"Early bird" (discounted) registration for TUgis 2012 is now open. You may register online if you are paying with a credit card (American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa only). The following is a link to the TUgis 2012 online registration page. Register for TUgis 2012 before Friday, January 27, 2012 and save! We are using a new event registration system this year. You will receive a receipt for your credit card purchase after you complete your registration.

TUgis 2012 will once again be a "green conference." The conference will follow recommendations included in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Guide to Planning and Conducting Environmentally Aware Meetings and Events. In addition to increased recycling efforts, we will purchase a "carbon offset" for TUgis 2012 from Carbonfund.org.

I look forward to seeing you at TUgis in March!

Sincerely,

John M. Morgan, III, Ph.D., Professor of Geography and Director
