The Towson University Department of Geography and Environmental Planning, along with Esri and other co-sponsors, announce our 25th Annual Geographic Information Sciences Conference. TUgis 2012 will be held on Monday, March 19 and Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the University Union on the Towson University campus.


TUgis 2012 will emphasize information sharing, or technology transfer, by anyone currently using GIS and anyone considering using GIS. The theme for TUgis 2012 is “Celebrating 25 Years of Service to the Mid-Atlantic Geospatial Community.” The plenary presenters for TUgis 2012 are:



TUgis 2012, which will be held in the University Union, features 2 plenary presentations, 29 concurrent sessions featuring 12 sessions with 33 individual presentations and 17 mini-workshops on various topics, an exhibit area with over 25 exhibitors, an ice-breaker social, a job mart, and a map design competition. This program, which was prepared with the assistance of our Advisory Committee, incorporates many recommendations made by last year’s attendees. Registration for TUgis 2012 is open. You may register online if you are paying with a credit card (American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa), check, or RSTARS transfer. The following is a link to the TUgis 2012 online registration page. Register for TUgis 2012 before Friday, March 16, 2012 and save! You will receive a receipt for your credit card purchase after you complete your registration.



TUgis 2012 will once again be a "green conference." The conference will follow recommendations included in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Guide to Planning and Conducting Environmentally Aware Meetings and Events. In addition to increased recycling efforts, we will purchase a "carbon offset" for TUgis 2012 from Carbonfund.org.
