Members of Towson University's Wall$treet
Investors Investment Club attended a trip to Dayton, Ohio
for the Redefining Investment Strategy Education (R.I.S.E.)
conference from Wednesday, March 26th to Saturday, March
29th.
R.I.S.E. is an investment
conference held at the University of Dayton and brings
together members of student investment clubs from around the
world. This event included keynote presentations from
industry professionals, along with specialized breakout
sessions focused on topics ranging from security analysis to
career development. Students had the opportunity to speak
numerous distinguished professionals such as: Dr. Bob Froelich from Deutsche Bank Asset Management;
Editor-at-Large at Bloomberg News, Thomas Keene; Chief North
American Economist at Merrill Lynch, David Rosenberg;
President & CEO of the CFA Institute, Jeffrey Diermeir, CFA;
and Director of Stock Analysis at Morninstar, Inc., Patrick
Dorsey, CFA.
Academy of
Finance
Members of Towson University's Wall
Street Investors' Investment Club and faculty from the
Towson University College of Business and Economics were
invited to speak at the Community College of Baltimore
County on April 18th, 2008. Hundreds of high school students
enrolled in the Baltimore County Public School's Academy of
Finance Magnet Program were introduced to basic financial
concepts, the financial markets, careers in finance and
information on the College of Business and Economics at
Towson University.
The Academy of Finance (AOF) was
established nationally in 1982, operating as a “school
within a school” with the purpose of introducing students to
career opportunities in the financial services industry and
equips them with the knowledge to make sound choices for the
future. AOF is a college preparatory program with required
coursework in technology, finance, accounting and economics.

Members of Towson
University's Wall Street Investors Investment Club held the
second annual WiiC Golf Tournament hosted by Pine Ridge Golf
Course on Sunday, May 4, 2008.
More than 40 golfers played in the
team-scramble tournament which started at noon and ran until
6 pm. Following the tournament, the players, students and
volunteers were joined by guest speaker Coach Steve Moreland
of the Detroit Pistons who spoke about character and what it
means to be successful in both life and in business.
A portion of the proceeds benefited the
Zach Sowers Brain Trauma Research Fund at Johns Hopkins
Medical Center.
