The Spring 2010 Forum provided an arena for science and mathematics teachers, students interested in careers in science and mathematics, and scientists and mathematicians from academia and industry to meet, network, and hear about the research of nationally known scientists and mathematicians. It was also a gathering in which we all learned about the varied career paths of women scientists and mathematicians and consider some of the issues involved in the decision to enter the discipline.
We had a very exciting line-up of speakers this year. Dr. Alicia A. Cool (internal Medicine, Greater Baltimore medical Center) spoke about "perfume and Possibilities: Becoming an Internist." Dr. Paz Galupo (Professor, Psychology and Director of the Institute for Academic Diversity and Inclusion, Towson University) discussed "From Rats to Race: Women and Minorities in Academia." Finally, Dr. Alycia Weinberger (Department of Terrestrial Magnetism, Carnegie Institute of Washington) discussed her "It's a Great Big Universe and it's Ours."
