The Spring 2011 Forum provides an arena for science and mathematics teachers, students interested in careers in science and mathematics, and scientists and mathematicians from academia and industry to meet, network, and hear about the research of nationally known scientists and mathematicians. It is also a gathering in which we can all learn about the varied career paths of women scientists and mathematicians and consider some of the issues involved in the decision to enter the discipline. We have a very exciting line-up of speakers this year. Dr. Patricia S. Steeg (Head, Women's Cancers Section Laboratory of Molecular Pharmacology in the National Cancer Institute) who will speak about "Insights Into Careers in Medical Research: Molecular Characterization of Tumor Metastasis." Dr. Clare Muhoro (Department of Chemistry at Towson University) who will speak about "Organic Chemistry Can Help Solve Environmental Problems." And Dr. Dianne P. O'Leary ( Computer Science Department at the University of Maryland) who will speak about "Mathematics and Computer Science in Words and Images."
