The Spring 2013 Forum provided an arena for science and mathematics teachers, students interested in careers in science and mathematics, and scientists and mathematicians from academia and industry to meet, network, and hear about the research of nationally known scientists and mathematicians. It was also a gathering in which we all learned about the varied career paths of women scientists and mathematicians and consider some of the issues involved in the decision to enter the discipline.

We had a very exciting line-up of speakers this year. Flora Lichtman (Multimedia Editor for National Public Radio's Science Friday and co-author of Annoying: The Science of What Bugs Us) spoke about "Science Needs Your Help."  Ava Marie (Meteorologist, WBAL-TV) discussed "Women in Science in the 21st Century: A Female Meteorologist's Perspective."  Finally, Dr. Nina Lamba (President and Chief Scientist at CCL Biomedical, Inc.) discussed "Blood, Sweat and Tears—The Biomaterials World."
