The Spring 2015 Forum provided an arena for science and mathematics teachers, students interested in careers in science and mathematics, and scientists and mathematicians from academia and industry to meet, network, and hear about the research of nationally known scientists and mathematicians. It was also a gathering in which we all learned about the varied career paths of women scientists and mathematicians and consider some of the issues involved in the decision to enter the discipline.

We had a very exciting line-up of speakers this year. Dr. Margaret Chandler (Scientific Review Officer at the National Institutes of Health spoke about "One Size Does Not Fit All: One Path to a Career in Science as an Academic Researcher."  Dr. Dawnielle Farrar-Gaines (Senior Electrical and Materials Engineer at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory) discussed "Brain Surgery: Transforming Perspectives Regarding Careers in STEM."  And then Dr. Cynthia J. Decker (Executive Director of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Agency Science Advisory Board) spoke about "The Feds, the State, and the Non-Profit World: An Untraditional Oceanographic Career."
