The Women’s Center is sponsoring TU Toys again this year. Over the past five years, with the generosity of students, faculty and staff, over 4000 toys and supplies have been donated to homeless shelters, centers, and after school programs in the Baltimore City and Baltimore County areas.
This year, we are asking every Towson University student to donate just $1.
We have about 20,000 students on campus – Wow, what an impact that would be. This would allow us to buy not only toys but school supplies, hats, gloves, blankets, sweaters, and coats for those in shelters. Faculty and staff are also asked to contribute. Your donations should be brought to the Women’s Center/Center for Student Diversity, UU, 313-311. We are open daily from 8am until 5pm.
We are particularly interested in multicultural groups, fraternities, sororities, athletic teams, intramural sports, etc. forming teams to raise as much money as possible. When you turn in your donation, make sure you identify the group to which you belong. The organization raising the most money will select the charity of their choice to which $500 will be donated in their name.
In December, just before the holidays, teams of students will go out on a SHOP-A-THON and purchase all of the merchandise. A wrapping party, complete with pizza, dessert and drinks will follow soon thereafter.
