The installation ceremony for Kim Schatzel, Ph.D., as Towson University’s 14th president
will take place on Friday, September 16 at 2 p.m. at SECU Arena.
The academic procession will include TU faculty members, delegates from institutions of higher education, student and alumni delegates, the TU Board of Visitors, the USM Board of Regents, elected officials and other distinguished guests.
Those participating in the procession will be adorned in academic regalia except for
student delegates, who will be wearing inaugural stoles.
Music will play a key role in the ceremony, with a wide variety of selections and performers that will showcase Towson University’s diverse and talented students, faculty and alumni.
University System of Maryland Chancellor Robert L. Caret and Board of Regents Chair James T. Brady will conduct the formal investiture in which President Schatzel will be officially endowed with the powers and responsibilities of the presidency. The investiture will be followed by President Schatzel’s inaugural address and the singing of our alma mater.
