Make Friends, Feel at Home!
Social events are an important part of the Towson ELC program. Friendships quickly develop as students learn about American culture and the cultures of all the students studying at the ELC. Students have many opportunities to learn about life on an American university campus and explore the Baltimore region and beyond. We hope that students will leave with intercultural communication skills essential for global citizens in the 21st century.
Activities include a welcome party, an off-campus trip, events related to American holidays, an annual international festival, a final certificate reception, and more.
The Towson ELC International Festival is open to the entire Towson University community. Students dress in traditional clothes, sing native songs, share delicious food from many countries, perform dances, and teach games from their homeland.
Towson, Maryland is ideally located for travel. Depending on the season, we organize trips to locations of interest to our students: Lancaster, PA, Washington, D.C., New York City, Annapolis, MD, and Mount Vernon, VA. Students can hike along the Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah Mountains of Virginia or ski at Deep Creek Lake in Western Maryland. And in the summer, students have the choice of Ocean City, Hershey Park, and local swim clubs. There are many opportunities to learn and explore every semester.
Having fun while learning about American culture enriches the study abroad experience for our students.
