Conversation Partner Program

Conversation Partner Program

Towson University’s English Language Center matches Towson University’s students with Towson ELC students. The goals of the program are to promote international friendships, cultural exchange, and language learning although casual conversations outside of the classroom.

We require that the partners have to meet at least one hour per week. We do an orientation meeting at the beginning of the semester so the new partners can meet each other, and we can explain and clarify questions and issues about the program.

The Conversation Partner  Program offers many benefits to both ELC students and TU Volunteers.

ELC students:

  • Direct contact with native speakers
  • English Practice outside of classroom
  • Better understanding of the American Culture
  • Build confidence and make new friends

TU Volunteers:

  • Contact with different cultures
  • Fulfillment as human helping international students
  • Volunteers hours
  • New friends

The Towson ELC Conversation Partner Program wants that both students group feel comfortable and happy with the matches.
