The Office of International Partnerships provides Towson University students and local-area
families opportunities to develop friendships, share culture, and improve language
with short-term international program participants.
Towson University Friends of Internationals (TUFI) Peer Mentors
Adjusting to a new culture and language is not easy. TUFI Peer Mentors have the unique opportunity to meet international visitors, expand
their world view, practice foreign languages, gain valuable leadership skills, and
develop lasting friendships. Short-term International Program participants appreciate
the diverse and welcoming student body at TU as they explore their new temporary home.
Towson University Friends of Internationals (TUFI) Host Families
One of the best ways to learn about U.S. culture is to interact with U.S. families. Participating
families invite one or two students for a home-cooked meal (typically dinner) at a
mutually convenient time. Additional opportunities may include invitations to informal
meetings and events off campus. Families are invited to join students for cultural events
on campus too. Often rated as a program highlight, these enriching experiences allow
families and their international hosts to engage in cross-cultural sharing without
a long-term commitment.
