How I got involved.
I transferred to Towson University as a sophomore and hit the ground running. From the moment I stepped into the Involvement Fair, surrounded by 250 different clubs and organizations welcoming me into their community, I knew I was home. I joined the TU Belly Dance Club and soon served as the co-president of the club. I also joined the Honors College, which became like my family within the university and included a network of mentors, professors, and friends. Now, I’m beyond excited to be back at my alma mater to continue helping students find their place in our community and in the world.
Towson Tigers are on campus, in the community, and around the world.
One-third of TU students live on campus and one-third live within a mile of campus. Still, that doesn’t mean students are only active on campus. In the spring, students and alumni mobilize to serve the community in the biggest volunteer service day of the year at The Big Event. A similar event in the fall gathers students to help local homeowners in the Towson community. Looking to go even further? Towson offers great study abroad opportunities with over 800 programs and opportunities on every continent on earth—except Antarctica of course. Scholarships are available and most academic programs allow for study abroad if not during the semester, then during the summer and minimester.
Towson students get jobs.
There are plenty of places to work both in the community and on-campus. When I was a student, I studied abroad in China and then came back to work as a Peer Advisor in the TU Study Abroad Office. Beyond on and off-campus student jobs, internships and full time position opportunities are plentiful. Not only does TU hold the annual Spring Mega Job Fair hosting employers from all over the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia), but the Career Center also hosts 300 events on campus. Students are also close to companies like Under Armour, Morgan Stanley, Stanley Black and Decker, and T. Rowe Price.
My advice to anyone who’s applying.
Spend some time and effort on your application essay. We really read them and they’re one more way we get to know you outside of your test scores and grades. I love reading and I can’t wait to read your story!
What I like most about my job.
Towson has been a huge part of my life while I was a student and in the years since graduating. I love that I can now share my enthusiasm for Towson and help people envision themselves as Towson Tigers too.
Even though we have more 22,000 students, our average class size is only 24. We offer more than 60 majors, 800 study abroad opportunities and more than 7,000 internships each year.
TU fosters an inclusive, friendly and supportive environment for our students. With more than 300 student clubs and organizations, you're sure to find your best fit. From on-campus events and community service to exploring the city, you'll love life at TU!
Whether it’s NCAA Division I action at Johnny Unitas Stadium or club soccer on Burdick Field, athletics are a big part of life at TU.
