Who can be part of AileyCamp Baltimore?

Campers will be selected based on recruitment and interview sessions. Campers will not be selected because of prior dance experience or talent. AileyCamp Baltimore is looking for children who are most in need of knowing there can be a bright future.

Who is eligible?

64 students (ages 11-14) attending schools in the greater Baltimore area. Prior dance training is not a consideration for admission.

PARENTS/GUARDIANS PLEASE NOTE, IN ORDER FOR US TO CONSIDER YOUR CHILD'S APPLICATION THEY MUST:

  1. , fax, or mail their application prior to the deadline.
  2. Attend an interview session. You will receive advance notice of the date. The applicant's interview is in lieu of an audition as applicants do not need to have any dance training to apply.
  3. Attend the mandatory parent/guardian/camper orientation May 11, 2018 if they are selected.
  4. DO NOT APPLY if your child has scheduling conflicts, for example sports practices, games, other performance commitments between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., or if you have vacation plans between June 18th-July 27th, 2018.

Is there transportation?

MTA bus tickets will be available for accepted students, courtesy of Baltimore City Public Schools. THANK YOU BCPS!

When is AileyCamp?

AileyCamp will begin on Monday, June 18th to Friday, July 27th. Camp begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. These are four action-packed weeks! Campers are expected to attend each day, unless they are ill. Please do not apply if you cannot commit to attend during the above mentioned dates or times. If you have any vacation plans during this time do not apply.

What are the activities?

Daily classes in a variety of dance techniques, creative communication, and personal development. The final performance is held at the end of camp for family, friends and supporters. See the curriculum for more information.

What do I wear to camp?

All of the AileyCamp attire will be provided.
Boys – gym shorts, T-shirts, and ballet slippers
Girls – gym shorts, T-shirts, tights, leotards, and ballet slippers

Who is the staff?

Male and female dancers, former Ailey Company or Ailey-trained artists, from New York and the Baltimore area, and other professionals dedicated to making AileyCamp a great experience.

When will I know if I have been accepted?

Applicants will be notified by mail no later than April 16, 2018. Please do not call or email about your status unless you have not heard from us by 5:00 p.m. April 16, 2018. Once you are accepted you have until May 4, 2018 to accept.  If we do not hear from you your spot will be given to another camper on the waitlist.

When is the final performance?

Thursday, July 26th. Admission is free, but tickets are necessary to attend.

Where is AileyCamp Baltimore?

AileyCamp will be held at the Towson University Center for the Arts. The campus is accessible by public transportation or by car. See the directions to campus.
