How did you find this internship?
I reached out to the company directly to find this position.
What advice on the internship application process would you give to another student in this internship?
Reach for the stars. Act as if you already have the position and you are interviewing a potential candidate. What would you be looking for?
What did you do as an intern at this organization?
I organized recruiting events for prospective and current athletes. To do this, I helped develop press releases, media statements, and event conferences. I also documented correspondence of prospective athletes on official visits and participated in recordkeeping, arbitration, and maintaining calendars for the recruiting department.
What did you find most rewarding in your internship?
The ability to meet individuals in the career field I want to be in and make meaningful connections was rewarding. I got a chance to showcase what I want to do and learn exactly what it takes to get there.
What were the challenges you faced in your internship?
Being a female in a male-dominated field was the biggest challenge.
If another student at TU was interested in your internship next year, what skills would you recommend they develop in the coming semesters to prepare?
I suggest learning how to use Microsoft Publisher, AP style, how to write press releases, and be sure to either have an editor or proofreader on standby. Also, give yourself deadlines when facilitating events.
