Apply for Scholarships

Accounting and pre-accounting majors can apply for department scholarships to be awarded for academic year 2018-2019 now through Jan. 15, 2018. You must submit a resume, unofficial transcript and an essay along with the application form (PDF).

Accounting Department Scholarships for Current Students

The accounting department awards the following scholarships to students with an accounting major who meet the other requirements.

ACCOUNTING ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP

The Accounting Alumni Scholarship is open to continuing sophomore, junior, senior, graduate, and second bachelor's degree students majoring in accounting who have an overall GPA of 3.0.  Full-time and part-time students can apply. Preference given to those who demonstrate financial need.

Deloitte Scholarship in Accounting

The Deloitte Scholarship in Accounting is open to continuing sophomore, junior or senior students majoring in accounting who have an overall GPA of 3.40. A statement of professional goals is required. Preference given to a Maryland resident, and all else being equal, financial need. Eligible students must submit at least one faculty recommendation.

DEPARTMENT  OF ACCOUNTING General SCHOLARSHIP

The Department of Accounting General Scholarship is open to continuing sophomore, junior, senior, graduate, and second bachelors students majoring in accounting who have an accounting GPA of 2.70 and an overall GPA of  2.30 or better (transferred grades will not be used in GPA determinations). Active involvement in student organizations (especially BAP, NABA or TUSA), volunteer or community service activities, and any accounting internships are also taken into consideration.

Ellin & Tucker Scholarship

This scholarship is open to junior students who have been admitted to the accounting major during their junior year and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher in their major and overall. A separate application form (PDF) and nomination by a professor within the College of Business and Economics is required. Other conditions apply.

KENNETH AND RENEE MORELAND ACCOUNTING SCHOLARSHIP

The Kenneth and Renee Moreland Accounting Scholarship awards full-time meritorious students with a declared major in accounting who have an overall GPA of 3.0 and a GPA of 3.5 in accounting courses. 

SC&H EXCELLENCE IN ACCOUNTING SCHOLARSHIP

The SC&H Excellence in Accounting Scholarship is open to continuing sophomore, junior, senior and graduate students majoring in accounting who have an accounting GPA of 2.70 and an overall GPA of  2.30 or better (transferred grades will not be used in GPA determinations). Leadership positions or active involvement in student organizations, volunteer or community service activities, and any accounting internships are also taken into consideration.  

Accounting Department Scholarships for Entering Freshmen Students

Accounting Advisory Board Scholarship

The Accounting Advisory Board Scholarship is open to incoming freshman who intend to pursue a career in accounting. The scholarship is renewable.

Applications for initial awards for academic year 2018-2019 can be submitted through May 1, 2018. You must submit a resume, unofficial transcript, an essay, and a letter of recommendation, along with the initial application form (PDF).

Renewal applications for academic year 2018-2019 can be submitted through June 1, 2018. You must submit a resume, unofficial transcript, an essay, and a letter of recommendation, along with the renewal application form (PDF).

National & Regional Accounting Scholarships

The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) offers a variety of need- and merit-based scholarships for students across the country. Explore AICPA scholarships.

ACCT 495 and 497

If you wish to take Independent Research in Accounting (ACCT 495) or Accounting Internship (ACCT 497), you will need to fill out the appropriate forms and have them approved prior to registering for these courses.
