The accounting major provides students with the necessary knowledge and skills to transition into a professional career in accounting in a variety of settings. It is also designed for students who wish to prepare for the CPA examination and enter the public accounting profession. Students complete the lower-level required courses, upper-level business required courses and upper-level accounting required courses for the accounting major.
Admission to the accounting major is selective. Students are admitted to the major on a competitive basis after first being admitted to the university. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis.
Before applying to the accounting major, students must first declare a “pre-accounting” major and complete the lower-level prerequisites and other requirements. Students are encouraged to meet with their faculty adviser each term to evaluate their progress in completing the requirements for admission to the major.
