Dr. Rachel Riedel is an interdisciplinary researcher in psychology, health education and physical education. Her research focuses on the development, implementation and evaluation of mental health and wellbeing education programs in school settings. Dr. Riedel draws upon positive psychology and social-emotional learning to inform her research.

Dr. Riedel has extensive experience in higher education leadership. In her current role, she serves as the Coordinator for the Physical Education Teacher Education program. In her previous work at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, she was the Associate Dean of Students, and led  two undergraduate programs: the Bachelor of Physical Education and the Bachelor of Sport, Health and Physical Education.

Dr. Riedel has taught Health Education, Physical Education and Educational Psychology at undergraduate and graduate level. Additionally, she has led faculty-wide curriculum development for student engagement, retention and achievement. The Faculty of Education and Social Work, University of Auckland, recognized her contribution with the following award: Excellence in Teaching: Leadership in Teaching and Learning.
