The required family science capstone course provides students with in-depth experiences in a variety of research methods. Prerequisite courses serve as pathways to the capstone experience.
Family science majors are trained in the scientific methods used to understand family behavior and development across the lifespan. With an emphasis on writing and research, students develop a professional philosophy, self-assessment and reflection, and effective communication skills.
Capstone students are expected to display initiative in choosing a current family issue or trend to explore in depth; culminating in the development of a comprehensive research proposal and conference style presentation.
