Clinical Psychology Concentration

Prepare to become a licensed professional counselor, apply to a nationally recognized doctoral program or provide a range of psychological services to adults and children.

Why Choose the Clinical Psychology Program?

Towson University’s clinical psychology program adopts an evidence-based practice model.  Receive training in diagnostic, personality, intellectual assessment, evidence-based case conceptualization and interviewing, state-of-the-art treatments, ethics and research methods.

You will be prepared to provide psychological services (including assessment, testing, diagnosis, and treatment) to adults and children in hospital and private practice settings; conduct research on causes, consequences, and treatment of psychological disorders; or work in academic settings combining teaching, research, and clinical work. You may become a licensed clinical professional counselor following completion of additional coursework and field placement hours.

Degree Requirements

The program consists of a minimum of 48 credit hours, including a 425-475 hour clinical or research internship in the community. You will be prepared for licensure as a masters’ level clinician, to apply for admission to doctoral programs in clinical psychology (both Psy.D. and Ph.D), or to work as a psychometrician or a project director on applied research studies. View degree requirements and course descriptions in the Graduate Catalog.
