Laurie Haynie is the program coordinator/lecturer for the College of Southern Maryland
and Towson University 2+2 program. This unique partnership between the College of
Southern Maryland and Towson University allows students in the Southern MD area to
complete their undergraduate degree from Towson University while attending classes
and completing their student internships in Charles, St. Mary’s or Calvert counties.
Prior to her current position, Ms. Haynie spent 25 years with the Calvert County Public
School System as a distinguished principal, vice principal, and teacher of grades
K-8. Her educational background includes an undergraduate degree from Towson University
in Elementary Education, a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Western
Maryland College, and a Certificate of Advanced Study from the University of Notre
Dame of Maryland. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Organizational Leadership from
the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
Raised in Southern Maryland, Ms. Haynie now lives with her husband and family in Solomons,
MD. Ms. Haynie has been a Race to the Top transition plan evaluator for the Center
for Application and Innovation Research in Education, at Towson University in 2012.
She was awarded National Staff Development Council’s, Impacting the Future Now, Bridge
Builder Scholar Award in 2010. She has been a presenter national, state, and local
educational conferences 1992-2012. She served on the Principal’s Advisory Council,
for the Maryland State Department of Education 2006-2010.
