Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification

Towson University offers a post-baccalaureate teacher certification program for individuals who already have a bachelor’s degree but wish to be certified to teach in Maryland. This program is approved by the Maryland State Department of Education.

Post-baccalaureate teacher certification programs are available in the following areas of study:

  • secondary education (including biology, chemistry, earth-space science, English, history, mathematics, physics and social sciences)
  • middle school education
  • art education
  • dance education
  • health education
  • physical education
  • French
  • Spanish

Master's Degree option

Teaching M.A.T.

If you have an undergraduate degree, you may want to consider the master’s degree in teaching (M.A.T), a graduate degree that leads to eligibility for teacher certification.

The program can be completed in as little as one year. Students who need a more flexible schedule can complete courses on a part-time basis.
