Dr. Nichols specializes in mass communication and society, media criticism and ethics, and the practice of journalism. Her research interests include the role of the press in a democracy, new media technologies, and media representations of marginalized groups. Her most recent research focuses on social networking technologies and pedagogy. She also is the program director for a TU short-term study abroad program, Communication & Global Competence in Barcelona.
