Prerequisites to Admission

Admission to the Master of Science in communication management program is competitive. Applications are reviewed by the department’s graduate committee, and deadlines and requirements are strictly enforced. Full compliance with requirements does not guarantee admission. Applicants must have:

  • At least one advanced writing course that is documented by the student and approved by the program director
  • A research methods course on the undergraduate transcript or a basic statistics course that is documented by the student and approved by the program director. (Students without an undergraduate research methods course may take Towson University's MATH 231 course, which is an approved statistics course, for this requirement).
  • All prerequisite courses must be completed before the student can enroll in any graduate class. A letter grade of B or above is required.
  • A minimum overall undergraduate GPA of 3.00 or higher for full admission
  • International students should take the TOEFL/IELTS test. For full admission consideration, students should score a minimum of 87 for Internet-based tests or 560 for paper-based tests on the TOEFL or a 7.5 on the IELTS.
