Students interested in majoring in Dance at Towson University must participate in an audition as part of the application process.

The Dance Audition process is the best way to learn about the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance Performance and Choreography at Towson University. See if this program is the right fit for your academic goals is a very important step. At the audition you will have an opportunity to speak with current faculty and students, take several classes, and see the facilities.
The Department of Dance chairperson, Dr. Susan Kirchner, and the dance faculty look forward to meeting you, evaluating your technical performance and creative strengths, and determining if Towson University is a right fit for you. Please call the Department of Dance at 410-704-2760 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org for additional information.
Dance audition time slots may be reserved using Towson University's online registration system. Click the appropriate link below next to the date you would like to audition. For technical support regarding online registration please call 410-704-2760 or e-mail email@example.com.
* In addition to the online registration, auditionees must bring a head shot and the registration fee ($35) in the form of cash or a check on the day of the audition to be eligible to audition.
*Each audition will close when 50 candidates have registered. Winter slots fill up fast so please register as soon as possible.
The registration page can time-out if answers are not entered in a timely manner. Feel free to craft your answers in a Word document and then paste your answers into a freshly opened registration page. If you do not receive an email confirmation after submitting your registration please email spink AT_TOWSON for assistance.
Prospective students that have registered to audition, their family, and friends are
invited to participate in a welcome from faculty and staff at 9:00am.
Starting at 9:15am prospective students participate in a ballet class, a modern class, and a composition/ improvisation class. (During this time family members and those not auditioning are invited to tour the facilities and speak with current student ambassadors. Classes are closed to those not auditioning.)
Following the classes, the faculty will deliberate. Students may be asked to clarify their audition registration responses in a brief interview with the dance faculty.
The Department of Dance will mail notification letters to students within two weeks following the audition. Please remember that prospective students must also successfully apply to the University to become a dance major.
We hope you will tell us via email when you have decided to choose Towson University.
