Jack Dunlop

Major: Electronic Media and Film

Jack Dunlop

Jack Dunlop is a senior at Towson University, but you won’t see him around campus.

It’s easy to catch him on a screen, though.

That’s because the electronic media and film (EMF) major was lured to L.A. by Electronic Sports League (ESL) to jump full-time into his career as creative producer/commentator for the online gaming giant.

The job, delivering live commentary, interviews and play-by-play as teams of professional gamers vie for big bucks competing at Call of Duty: Black Ops III, says Dunlop, “is more than a dream come true.”

Dunlop’s fast track to the big leagues started when an internship with Major League Gaming (MLG) the summer before sophomore year turned into a shot at filling in as host of MLG’s daily live show. The big-wigs were so impressed that the New Jersey native stayed on camera for the rest of the summer — followed by invitations to host tournaments all over the country (and the UK).

“ The EMF department has some great professors. I’m extremely grateful for everything they taught me and how they helped me prepare for my career. ”

According to Dunlop, that real-world experience and what he learned in Towson University’s production and broadcasting courses readied him for the job with ESL.

“The EMF department has some great professors,” says Dunlop, “and I’m extremely grateful for everything they taught me and how they helped me prepare for my career.”

Those faculty members may not be surprised by the star student’s success, but he is still pinching himself.

“It doesn’t even feel like I’m working half the time,” says Dunlop. “Because I just love what I’m doing.”
