Biography

Jack Waugh is a guitarist and composer from Washington, D.C. Waugh has performed and collaborated with numerous world-renowned artists including Josh Gracin, Armen Paul, John Ellis, Delfeayo Marsalis, and Brian Lynch. He specializes in jazz, improvisation-centered music, and popular Western music styles. Waugh has performed at venues including 9:30 Club, DROM, Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival, Le Chat Noir, Pianos, Rockwood Music Hall, and Strathmore. He has composed original music featured in publications including V13 and Alchemical records. 

Waugh teaches a variety of genres including jazz, pop, rock, funk, and folk/Americana. He earned a B.F.A. in Jazz Performance from The New School in 2017 and studied with acclaimed educators and musicians including Hal Galper, Reggie Workman, Ari Hoenig, Barry Harris, Gilad Hekselman, Vic Juris, Dave Glasser, Steve Cardenas, Billy Harper, Matt Wilson, Jonathan Kreisberg, Ben Eunson, Jared Scharff, and Rachel Z. Through his performance and educational experience, Waugh is able to assist his students at Towson University in the development of their technical, theoretical, and auditory skills, while encouraging their individual discovery of artistry and passion for music.
