BGE is installing underground cables to improve power service in Towson.
Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. (BGE) crews are working along Cross Campus Drive to feed electrical cables underground, where they are less susceptible to weather and traffic accidents.Work will also be performed on Osler Drive and Towsontown Boulevard. The work is part of a countywide BGE project to improve the reliability of power service to the campus and nearby hospitals. Work began in January 2017 and the demolition of the Sheppard Pratt electrical substation that is located on Cross Campus Drive directly across from Tower A & B also started in late fall 2017. This is expected to continue through spring 2018.
Street parking on the south portion of Cross Campus Drive will be limited during the project. Pedestrians may be directed to the sidewalk on the north side of the road. Also during the demolition project that started on December 4, 2017, the parking lane along Cross Campus Drive across from Tower A & B will be closed. BGE and its contractor will be providing traffic control as the roadway will remain 2-way traffic.
