The Residence Tower will reopen in spring 2018 with modern accommodations and amenities.
The 44-year-old Residence Tower has been home to more than 20,000 students since opening in 1972. This project is the residence hall's first significant renovation. Preserving the building's long-term operations is key for the university to meet the growing demand for student housing.
The project's impact on parking and vehicular and pedestrian travel will be minimal. Both Towsontown Garage and Lot 6 will remain open for the duration of construction.
The renovation will incorporate sustainable design components including the installation of high-efficiency heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and an enclosed recycling chute. The project is expected to achieve LEED silver certification.
