Case Study Process

It is recommended that students begin the case study process the semester before they want to register.  Students are expected to get in touch with a professor to be their Case Study Advisor (PDF).  Students are responsible for developing a proposal that needs to first be approved by their case study advisor who will then send to the program director for final approval and permission to register.  You are not eligible to register for a case study unless all of the prerequisites have been completed.

Proposal

Workload

A Case Study project should consist of roughly 140 hours of effort on the part of the student. Projects with workloads that are either significantly higher or lower will not be approved.

Final Report

Each Case Study project requires the completion of a final project report. The report is due to both the Case Study advisor and the AIT program director prior to be the beginning of the final exam period.

Incomplete

Students who require additional time to complete the final report will be assigned a grade of I (Incomplete). Such students can register for AIT 885 Project Continuum (1) for an additional semester to complete the project. The grade of I for the case study course must be changed to the appropriate letter grade once the student has completed the case study final report.

Grading

Final grades are assigned by the Case Study advisor, after receiving input from the AIT program director.
