This program allows universities and colleges with outstanding actuarial programs the opportunity to be recognized for that achievement and to compete for grants for education and research. The Actuarial Science & Risk Management Center of Actuarial Excellence completed recently a site visit by the Society of Actuaries on September 27-28, 2018. We should know the results of this site visit in approximately one month.
The award recognizes outstanding mathematics teaching and leadership across Maryland, honoring one teacher in each of the following categories: Beginning Teacher, Elementary Teacher, Middle School Teacher, High School Teacher, College Educator, Teacher Leader, and Lifetime Achievement. Dr. Cooper is the co-director of Towson UTeach, TU’s teacher preparation program for students studying to become secondary-level science or mathematics teachers.
MHEC approved recently TU’s M.S. in Actuarial Science and Predictive Analytics. This new Master’s program will begin in Spring 2019. A search will be starting to find a new faculty member with a designation of Fellow of the Society of Actuaries.
